AI Statement
Tossing Bones Statement on AI
At our core, Tossing Bones produces games by people, for people. Tools and technologies change, but that never will.
Here are specifics for those who want more detail:
-
Tossing Bones will never release any art or text in which the output is predominantly the work of generative AI. That goes for freelancers, too: if we believe that the output we receive has been predominantly created by generative AI, we won’t accept it.
-
We understand that words like “predomenantly” are inexact and up for interpretation. We are technology-forward ourselves, and have no issues with technology used properly. But technology is never a substitute for human invention. In the case of generative AI, “properly” means used for research, organizing, formatting and other sundry tasks. In other words, the pre-production/development stage, not generating final products. What we release to you, and what freelancers deliver to us, will always be the work of minds and hands, with either no generative AI tools used at all, or AI tools used only to assist them in producing the work of their mind and hands.
-
Note here that we are differentiating between the use of generative AI to produce final output (or output with minimal tweaking by a human), and a human using software that has AI-algorithm infused tools. For example, if someone writes in Microsoft Word, and Word uses Copilot (AI) algorithms in their spell check, that’s fine. Having Copilot generate the text is not.
We know this is a constantly evolving topic, with legal, moral, and environmental concerns. We may update this statement as our tools change, but the gist will always be the same: what we are offering you, we will always have created, not algorithms.
